Couldn’t sleep so I am up. Should really crawl back into bed .

Having a warm drink and my stash from yesterday .

I only wanted to buy 9 pieces , ended up buying 16 . The girl that served me said it was cheaper 16 pieces costed $24 whilst 9 pieces meant I had to pay near $28 or something.

On the way home I had a travel companion since both of us didn’t know which platform to catch the train. It’s a bit confusing as it’s one of those stations that had 2-3 lines merging .

Anyhow found out she’s from the Phillipines and only been here for 2 months. She was on the way to meet her husband in Ringwood .

Asked her what was she doing in my neck of the woods since she lived all the way in Dandenong ?

Apparently she said it’s cheaper for her to get her nails done here . Then she proceeded to show me her nails. Thinking I had time to eat, I shared my baklava.

Only had one or two bites when the train came. She ended up helping me with my bags.

We found a double seat still vacant. Usually I’d just stand as the train was pretty full. I’m only a few stations away. But she insisted .

We sat finishing up our baklavas. She asked me where I lived and also how to get to Ringwood.

I told her once you get to Box Hill listen for the announcements. As I wasn’t sure if the train runs to Ringwood or not or she might have to connect to Ringwood by bus. They were still doing track works or something .

She asked me if I drive ? I replied yes but because we lived near the train I usually just catch one . Especially when I go into the city as there’s never any parking and parking is expensive during the week day. Around $60-80 a day?
I was surprised her English was very good. Apparently she knew English from her call centre job in the Phillipines .
For a 2 months newbies to be able to travel around on trains with no fear is a feat.

She’s very streetwise asking customer service when she was unsure where to go.

From the look of things she’s high maintenance and her husband spoils her.

She told me she loved my area. I was like yes it’s convenient.

All I could think of was the poor husband if he doesn’t move them then it’s endless ferrying her around.

From Dandenong by public transport she needs to get herself to the train. As she lives on the highway and there’s no station there.  Then it takes about 45 minutes to get to Richmond . From Richmond then another train back to Camberwell about another 20 minutes where I found her. It’s more than an hour trip all up if need to account for connection time . To drive it’s about 35 minutes roughly.

Of my 16 pieces of baklava I gave her one, I ate one so only had 14 left . When I got back home I packaged two lots of 4s. One for my dad and another for our shop girl. She then revealed it’s her favourite dessert growing up and she hasn’t had it for a long while .

Thus then I only had 6 left hubby had one and so did my daughter.

Which left me with the 4 this morning.

Yesterday made me realised. You only know stuff about people by talking to them. And second don’t generalise. Don’t assume .
