Don’t know how people work with a messy bench. Had to clear mine this morning. Hubby’s crap everywhere . Coffee mug, paperwork. I’ve since chucked it over to his bench.

The scanner is for us to scan the repeats. It’s quicker to dispense .

It is also to match the dispensing label and the barcode of the products to make sure we’ve picked the correct product .

Error minimising step though if the data entry is wrong then it will still be wrong ie. instead of Amoxycillin 250mg we’ve chosen 500mg in the computer then when we go to scan it will flash green to say we’ve picked the 500mg to match the label for 500mg. It doesn’t tell you that you’ve dispensed the wrong item in the first place.

He even had dirty dishes on the ledge.

These labels are cautionary labels. They are extra information for the consumers. Like Panadeine Forte will have a label 1 for drowsiness and label 19 to say it contains Paracetamol.

In the olden days we had to memorise them all. Now it’s included on the dispensing label or shown on the screen when we dispense thus less memory work.
