Last night I attended a viewing. My Scout leader’s daughter contacted me through messenger to ask me to distribute the death notice.

It was of another leader’s mother in law. If I hadn’t seen it I wouldn’t have gone but I couldn’t not go after I’ve seen it.

I got there at 6:30pm or there about after a full day at work. There were a lot of Hail Marys and Our Fathers. It was done in loops.

He came and gave me a hug. I was sitting down so I stayed down. It’s weird as we’ve never been close.

Saw a few Scouts there and I left after the speeches. The speeches were short and sweet. It was to thank everyone for their time and also to direct people to light an incense for her and to go next door for refreshments.

I hate funerals or rather the process of it.

Sitting there I was thinking bugger it. Am I expected to do this when my parents pass? Since I’m the oldest in the family or rather our whole clan on my mum’s side? It’s going to be bloody awful. Excuse the language.

I mean they are not Catholic so no prayers but then the Buddhist chanting is pretty much as bad.

Then we have to wear head gear. Long whites for immediate family and short whites for extended family.

I just can’t stand the wailings and the circus acts. Apparently in our custom the more people cry the more they were loved. Some even hire criers for their loved ones’ funeral.

If I don’t attend does it mean I don’t care for them?

Anyhow thank goodness they are both healthy and still relatively fit.

I dread the day I have to sort it all out. Not to mention I’m the black sheep of the family. Who’s going to listen to me?

May be that’s a good thing. I get out of my responsibility. May be it’s time the others step up lol
