I was in bed just woken up from a nanna’s nap when a text arrived. It was from my sister trying to account for everyone in the family.
She asked if we were in Melbourne or at the hidey hole. I replied Melbourne with everyone at home except for one. So then she asked me to text my daughter to see if she was in the CBD.
Assured her she wasn’t as she was lunching with her friends in the ‘burbs.
It was a grey and wet day so we stayed in. She was worried as she knew my kids do take off to the city to go wandering.
Then I heard the news, absolute carnage. All I could think of was the buskers the people at the info stand on that side of the mall.
Then the realisation of all the people too slow to get out of the way. It was lunchtime . Peak time and school holidays all in one.
Kids going out with their mums and dads. Enjoying our lovely city.

This is a photo of the mall I took just recently on one of my wanderings. It can get very crowded.
And to think drugs and evilness have taken away 4 lives and injured many more.
Sad sad day for Melbourne yesterday .
its so sad the innocent people being killed or maimed by others out of control. whatever happened to people having a moral compass. oh gracious. prayers sent.

Yes Jo. It’s sad . He’s only released from bail just recently. Our streets are quite safe well up to a point. I wouldn’t walk alone at night in some shonky street. The CBD is safe. Never had any problems. We don’t worry about shootings etc since the Port Arthur massacre the government tightened gun control. It really hit home this incident as I tend to wander in the CBD and let my kids do as well. To think it can be unsafe is incomprehensible .

It’s horrible I think everyone is still coming to terms with it as we don’t get things like this happening over here. Melbourne despite being a big city is a friendly and safe one .
