I love Geelong and well it’s a city with many contradictions. Not so different from me.
How can a city with so many churches have as many pubs? There’s a pub at nearly every corner.
Not only that it’s suppose to be the second biggest city after Melbourne and yet it’s like a town?
When someone says they are going into town it means literally that. It means they are going into the city of Geelong . The CBD. The city.
My favourite church ..I used to walk past it every day when I was working down there. I’m bias because it is such a pretty church. Though I’ve seen more prettier ones this one still is my favourite.

Many years ago when I moved to Washington, DC and was still in my twenties, I used to wander into churches during my lunch hour to look at the architecture and art work. It was admittedly an unconventional lunch hour past time, especially since I’m not particularly religious. But it kept me off the streets, so to speak. 😉

it’s a city by the ocean so lots of surfers and arty farties. Even the doctors as the hospital are surfers . So the beach culture is ripe there. There’s wineries near by good fishing farms laid back kind of life. My hidey hole is down there about 20 minutes drive from the CBD.
